For this year’s Book Week celebrations at Holy Trinity, we had many exciting events that occurred.

Many of our highlights included, the Book Week Performance, “Big Dreams,” engaging many of the students and influencing them to keep persisting in their dreams.

As well as our fantastic Book Week Performance, we had our Book Character Parade. There were many creative costumes, inspired by our favourite books from Diary of the Wimpy Kid to favourite Princess characters.

This year’s theme, “Reading is my Secret Power,” encouraged many students to express themselves through their knowledge of reading. Like the famous Dr. Seuss stated, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Year 4 have been learning about National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, exploring the importance of truth-telling, respect and building positive relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. As part of their learning, students worked together to create a Path to Reconciliation. Along the pathway, they shared thoughtful words, promises and actions that can help create a more respectful and inclusive future for all. 💙

What is the probability of receiving a red M&M in a sample size of 10? Our maths lesson took an unexpected sweet turn. We used M&Ms to determine the probability of events occurring. Students recorded the data they collected from their bowl of M&Ms in fractions, decimals and percentages form and then placed the expected probability of each M&M colour on the probability scale. The highlight? Students being allowed to eat their M&Ms at the end of the lesson. Yum!
