Dear Parents and Friends,
In our Catholic church year we have now entered the season of Lent.
A season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
How will I approach Lent?
I always, but especially during Lent, will try to be a real and authentic leader, to accept and be grateful that God has chosen this path for me, to continue to embrace the community in Granville that I have been called to lead. I know that I belong here and that my vocation is to be the best person I can be for the children, parents, teachers and wider Granville parish community.
I ask you to consider praying for me during this Lent that I have the strength and courage to continue this work with you and for you, that the Holy Spirit guides me in my work. I know that God is with me on this journey helping me to love one another, Jesus is by my side so that I can serve this community.
I will be praying that each family will be better able to know and love our God and accept the life He has chosen for them. We are all here at HTG together because at this time “we belong here”, so let us pray and be together in harmony.
On Wednesday Holy Trinity Primary celebrated mass with our Delany community, what a wonderful experience for our children to be with these students and their teachers. We filled the church to capacity and our children were absolutely perfect we are very proud of our children.
Did you know that Delany College and Holy Trinity Primary share the same motto, LOVE SERVE HOPE It is our intention to be present together with Delany to share many occasions in 2018. (See photos at the end of our newsletter).
Learning More About Lent
- Violet is the colour
- Commences on Ash Wednesday
- Lasts for 40 days, as a reminder that Jesus prayed in the desert for 40 days
- Concludes with Easter triduum Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday
- Calls us to
- Pray for ourselves and each other
- Fast - every person 14 years of age or older must abstain from meat (and items made with meat) on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent. Every person between the age of 18 and 59 (beginning of 60th year) must fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting is not recommended for primary school age children, as they need their food intake to be regular and healthy to assist in growing their mind and body. It could be that children abstain from junk foods throughout lent, for example, do acts of mercy and kindness for others

🌟 Year 1 Maths Fun! 🌟 Our Year 1 students have been busy learning about making equal groups! Through hands-on activities and lots of discussion, students explored how to share objects into groups that have the same number in each group. They worked together to build, count and check their groups, developing their understanding of early multiplication and division concepts. ✨

Year 6 White During our morning circle time, students have been enjoying a positive primer activity to challenge our brains and get us ready for learning. Our favourite activity this week has been blindfolded continuous line drawing. We have been given 2 minutes to draw objects or snapshots as per Miss Murphy’s instruction. The challenge, draw the prompt on your whiteboard, with your eyes closed without lifting your marker. Here are our designs of a plant pot with a tall plant growing out of it.

Year 6 Blue explored different ways Catholics pray and discovered that prayer is much more than simply saying words. Students participated in four different prayer station rotations, giving them the opportunity to experience and reflect on a variety of prayer practices.

🌹 Feast of the Assumption of Mary 🌹 Holy Trinity and Delany College came together to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was a beautiful way to begin our week by coming together in prayer and venerating Mary, the Mother of Christ and our Mother. Stage 3 students attended the CSPD Soccer Gala Day. It was a fantastic day filled with soccer, teamwork, developing tactics and plenty of fun. Our girls’ team finished in an impressive second place, while the boys’ team finished the day in fourth place. A big thank you to Mrs Ibrahim for organising the day and supporting our selected Stage 3 students. Well done to all our students for representing our school with enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship!

This week in Year 4 Religion, our students have been exploring the inspiring people of prayer from the Hebrew Scriptures, including Jacob, Hannah, David, Isaiah and Daniel. Together, we began by learning about Jacob, using his story to discover how prayer can strengthen our faith, guide us through challenges, and help us trust in God. Students then researched one biblical person of prayer. They investigated the person's story, the challenges they faced, how they prayed, what they learned about God, and how their lives were transformed through prayer. Each group shared their findings with the class, helping us all learn from these remarkable examples of faith.

Today we're sharing some special moments from our Grandparents Day celebration on Monday. As we celebrate our grandparents, we remember Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus and patrons of grandparents. Their lives remind us of the precious gift of passing on faith from one generation to the next. May God continue to bless all grandparents with good health, peace, and the joy of knowing how deeply they are loved and appreciated.
