Year 6 Holy Trinity Granville students outside of Parliment House, Canberra.

Year 6 recently went on an educational tour of our Nation’s Capital as a part of our the Year 6 Australian Curriculum.

Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on enhancing the children’s education of Democracy, Leadership and Government.

Our time away seemed a blur but many educational and personal experiences were had by all. This was an exceptional group of Year 6 students who represented their school with great maturity and exceptional behaviour.

What is the probability of receiving a red M&M in a sample size of 10? Our maths lesson took an unexpected sweet turn. We used M&Ms to determine the probability of events occurring. Students recorded the data they collected from their bowl of M&Ms in fractions, decimals and percentages form and then placed the expected probability of each M&M colour on the probability scale. The highlight? Students being allowed to eat their M&Ms at the end of the lesson. Yum!

How many words can you see? Students constructed words with given prefixes and suffixes and our bound base of ‘ject’ meaning to throw. The challenge was to use all the prefixes and suffixes to make as many words as possible. Challenge was accepted, showcased across multiple whiteboards. Well done Year 6!
